Edward "Ned" Hector,
Black Patriot of the American Revolution
Let it be known that Edward
"Ned" Hector has been assigned to Captain Hercules Courtney's unit of
the 3rd Pennsylvania Artillery Company."
Thus begins a historically
accurate portrayal of a man who lived in Conshohocken and fought in the
Battle of Brandywine. Known to his friends as "Ned," Edward was a
freeman and teamster by trade. Noah brings Ned to life and talks not
only about his role on the battlefield, but about the role of
African-Americans during the Revolution. Please note: Noah comes
dressed in a replica of a uniform from the American Revolution. He also
brings a replica Pennsylvania long rifle into class, without gunpowder
or bullets.
