Visual Arts Residencies

Art & Architecture
Expand your students' creativity into 3-D space through the study of architecture and architects. Historic buildings from around the world will be studied including the Egyptian Pyramids, the Greek Parthenon as well as works of modern architects such as I.M. Pei, Louis Khan and Frank Lloyd Wright. I. M. Pei, a Chinese architect, is known for designing the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C; The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum, Cleveland; and Louvre Pyramid, Paris. The program focuses on how to design architectural plans and how to convert plans into real 3-D models. A range of materials will be used to create models including clay, fabric and tiles.

Grades K-5 & 6-12   Classroom limit: 25

World Textiles
This program teaches textile art techniques and processes. Students learn about different cultural traditions and local materials that influence textile arts in various cultures from Europe, Africa, Asia and South America, including weaving, tie-dye, batik, sewing, felting, appliqué and stamping.

Ceramics & Sculptures
This program offers great flexibility to integrate 3 dimensional projects into classroom study. Several materials are incorporated to complement curriculum topics including science, social studies, language arts and math. Students learn a variety of building techniques, such as additive and reductive work in clay, plaster, wood, wire, junk, and paper mache.

Meet the Masters
Students learn while studying and creating in the styles of Georgia O'Keefe, Alberto Giacometti, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Van Gogh, Wassily Kandinsky and many more! Students explore the life, inspirations, work, process, and historical importance of each artist. Multi-media projects in painting, printmaking, textiles, sculpture & clay provide unique and exciting opportunities while connecting curriculum with classroom studies.

$400 per day (3 day minimum)
