Weaving, Pattern, and Design
Students build their own wood frame, decorate and transform it into a
loom. They design a color and pattern scheme and use either fabric
strips, recycled materials such as plastic bags, or colorful pipe
cleaners to create a unique and individual weaving. Each student keeps
a "visual journal" which tracks the progression of their design,
inspired by the fabric examples Kathryn shares from her travels abroad.
Kathryn exhibits her award-winning textile art in local galleries and
museums as well as around the country. She has taught her craft to
students as a PCA roster artist and through Art Futures.
