Lights, Camera, Curriculum
A humorous introduction to the techniques of animation and filmmaking. J.P. blends character voices with an historical examination of cartoon animation in this interactive and lively program. Audience members help demonstrate how puppets' movements, in slow-motion and double-time, are manipulated during the animation process and how writing and math skills play an important role in making films. J.P. adjusts the content and vocabulary of his program according to grade levels. He has written and produced over 25 animated films and his work has been recognized at numerous film festivals nationwide.

WORKSHOP: Flip Book Animation
Ever wonder how animators create the visual magic of a speeding duck or dancing flower? Controlled movement, basic drawing techniques and lots of patience and imagination. J.P.'s hands-on workshop gives each student the chance to design a character and storyline and create their own action flipbook.

Grades K-12
Classroom limit: 35
$175 for each workshop when combined with performance. Minimum 2 workshops.
Chalkboard required.
School provides a pencil, 3x3 post-it pad or glued pad for each student.
