Drums of Japan

Taiko, which translates into "big drum," is one of several drums this percussion ensemble incorporates into an energetic program inspired by Japanese festivals. Students will also hear bamboo flutes (shakuhachi and fue) and the koto (string instrument). Several dances are featured, including the Iyomanzai (fan dance) and selected students will get a chance to play the powerful taiko.
